Meeting Minutes
February 11, 2008

WELCOME:  54 members; no new members. Guest:  Michelle Telenko.

SECRETARY'S REPORT:  Quiche Perry made a motion to accept; Nancy Orcutt seconded.  There was no discussion; motion carried.

TREASURER'S REPORT:  No report presented.

OLD BUSINESS:

Quilt Show:  Sally McIntyre had a mild stroke and is recovering.  Sally still wants to help with the quilt show.  With the help of all members, the quilt show will go on.

    - WE NEED QUILTS FOR THE SHOW!  Phyllis Fletcher is in charge of quilt registration.  Entry forms included in meeting packet, or you may send your entry electronically to Phyllis.
    Teela will take picture of quilts for entry in show.  Please deliver quilts by Friday evening, April 4th.
    - Award Ribbons: Need help with a few kits to be available later.
    - Fat Quarters are requested for Basket of FQs prize.  Gwen Guyette volunteered to buy basket and arrange fat quarters.
    - Door Prize:  Bonnie Evans needs donations for the basket, such as candles, teas, etc.  Winner may not be a quilter so items need not be quilt related.  Bring donations to March meeting. 
    - Volunteer Sign-Up:  Bonnie provided sign-up sheets for jobs at the quilt show. Please sign up for a job or two; the success of the show depends on everyone helping.  Call Bonnie at 868-7168.
    - Demonstrations:  Lorraine Pike challenges us to do something different/harder for the show.  She has 8 spots to fill for a variety of demos, such as embroidery, rug-hooking, etc.  Call     Lorraine at 849-6683 to participate.
    - Raffle Tickets:  See Beth Jessiman for your tickets.  A $25.00 gift certificate will be awarded to member selling the     most tickets.  Everyone selling 5 packets or more will be entered into special drawing for pineapple wall-hanging made and     generously donated by Teela Dufresne.
    - Silent Auction:  Diane Forey & Nancy Orcutt need quilted/quilt-related items.  Bring donations to March meeting. 
    - Bank Window Display:  Denise Chase and Bonnie Evans volunteered to set up the display.
    - Posters:  Sharon brought posters advertising  the quilt show and asked that they be distributed throughout members towns.
    - FCQG Banner:  Banner was updated; letter faxed to City Manager, Liz Gamache, to hang banner on Rt 7.
    - Ribbons for 10th Annual Quilt Show:  Anniversary observance will include a few new ribbons listed below.  All other ribbons will remain the same.  The new ribbons are: 
          -- Founder's Award:  Denise Christiansen will select winner and present a green ribbon.
        -- President's Award:  Pres. to award an orange ribbon. 
        -- Vendor's Award:   Each vendor will award a grey ribbon to quilt of their choice.
        -- Quilt for a Cure Award:  A new pink ribbon for breast cancer quilt which receives most viewers choice votes.
        -- Vermont Mystery Quilt:  This category will be awarded to the 3 top quilts made based on the mystery quilt pattern organized by Marilynn Jessiman last year.

2009 Charity Quilt:  Guild will vote on recipient in March.  Organizations should send letter to FCQG, c/o Sharon Perry, PO     Box 517, Montgomery Center, VT 05471, no later than March 1, 2008.  Include organization's mission/objectives AND service to Franklin/ Grand Isle County. Service examples and statistics are encouraged.


Food Drive:  Everyone who brought food donations entered her name for each item in a special drawing.  Winners were:  Quiche Perry; Jill Boomhover; Susie Perry; Denise Chase; Linda McNall; and Gisele Nolan.


NEW BUSINESS:  Sharon will ask for nominating committee volunteers next month.  Please be thinking of filling one of the vacant offices.

WIP CHALLENGE:  65 WIPs have been finished since October 2007. List enclosed in evening packet.  Enter your name for each WIP finished.  Running stats will be included in mtg packet each month.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
 

Quilting Bee:  Quiche Perry will be holding a Quilting Bee at Back Inn Time on April 19, 2008.  Also, the Inn will be offering a "Death by Chocolate" Murder Mystery on April 13th and 20th.  Call Quiche on her cell 782-1896 or, at the Inn 527-5116 if interested.  

March Meeting will be held on Monday, March 10th.


Orphan Block Quilt:  Bonnie Evans brought a quilt that will be given to Sally McIntyre with our good wishes for a speedy recovery.


Staples Business Rewards:  Reminder (use phone #868-7168).  Bonnie received letter stating FCGQ reward coupons amounted to $367.

BOM  RAFFLE BLOCKs were won by Elaine Magnan.

PROGRAM:  Shireen Melton facilitated Ugly Fabric Challenge.  The winners were:  1st place, Gwen Guyette; 2nd place, Lorraine Pike; and 3rd place, Denise Chase.

MONTHLY DRAWINGS:  Winners were:  Jeannette LaPierre; Tammy Gregoire; Lorraine Pike; Sandra Casavant; and Rose Rixon.
