Meeting Minutes
December 19, 2007
DELICIOUS POTLUCK SUPPER PRECEDED BUSINESS MEETING.
WELCOME:

The Pines in gratitude for a Breast Cancer Survivor Quilt donated to Jenny
Fyles. A check of $250.00 was donated to Franklin County Quilter’s
Guild in appreciation.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Gerda Thibault
made a motion to accept; Nancy Orcutt seconded. There was no discussion;
motion carried.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Diane Forey made
a motion to accept; Mary Ellen Therrien seconded. There was no discussion;
motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
- 2008 Charity Quilt
co-chair Denise Chase reported quilt is "work in progress;" border enlarged
to balance size of quilt.
- Breast Cancer Quilts
Bonnie Evans recently donated 2 orphan quilts and several charity quilts
to the Hospital Paliative Care. She has more kits ready to be completed.
- Quilt Show:
Plans are moving along. First round of press releases sent out; second
round will go out closer to show for newspapers and TV and radio stations.
- Ugly Fabric Challenge;
Shireen gave update on challenge. Quilts must be ready for the February
meeting.
- Quilting Bees: scheduled
for January 12 - 13, 2008 at Montgomery Public Safety Building; Saturday
& Sunday, 9:00am - 4:00pm. Potluck lunch on Saturday; on your own
on Sunday. In Montgomery Ctr, on Rt 242, right side 1/4 mile up from
Rt 118 intersection. Looking for volunteer for a February bee.
NEW BUSINESS:
- 2009 Charity Quilt:
Concerning organizational requests for 2009 Charity Quilt, interested organizations
should send letter to FCQG, c/o Sharon Perry, PO Box 517, Montgomery Ctr,
VT 05471, not later than February 1st, 2008. Letter should include organization's
mission/ objectives and service to Franklin/Grand Isle County; service examples
and statistics are encouraged. Habitat for Humanity raised $2,457 for
quilt which Shireen Melton made and donated on behalf of the guild; Cowles
Quilting did the machine quilting and Jen Letourneau did the binding. Shireen
drew the winning ticket; th winner was from the St. Albans area.
WIP (UFO) CHALLENGE:
- Carol Bessette is
in the lead with 7 UFO's. As of November, 22 WIPs were completed.
Each month, the member who completes the most WIPs for the month will get
a prize. Nancy Orcutt was the October winner. Enter your name
for each WIP finished. Running stats will be included in meeting packet
each month.

Beth Jessiman at Cowles Quilting organizing group trip. Special
rate for 10 @ $159 each; a few people have signed up. Beth needs registration
forms & checks by tomorrow, December 20.
- Sewing Day at Johnson
Town Hall, January 26 - 27, 2008. Contact Barb O'Toole, 635-9384, for
more info.
BOM: Denise Chase won 5 blocks.
January block was shown and explained. If anyone is missing instructions
for any of the BOMs, contact Marilynn Jessiman.
MONTHLY DRAWINGS: Monthly drawing
prizes awarded to Bev Cook, Nancy Orcutt, Beth Jessiman, Bonnie Evans and
Sue Flanders.
